Heart of Frontline Practice, in collaboration with PSYCHED

Heart of Frontline Practice, in collaboration with PSYCHED—a Healthy Cities and Counties initiative—played a pivotal role in promoting mental health and well-being in the workplace during 2021. We organised four free, two-hour virtual sessions titled 'Reflect and Engage' for workers in the private and community/voluntary sectors.

These sessions provided a safe and nurturing space for up to ten individuals at a time to reflect on their coping strategies during the global pandemic. The programme, designed to foster resilience and self-care, drew on the expertise of Dr Nicola O’Sullivan, Ag Eisteacht, and SHEP, and was warmly received by participants navigating new work practices amidst limited supports.

PSYCHED, standing for ‘Positive Support You Can Have Every Day’, aims to stimulate discussions about mental health and encourage proactive engagement from employers to foster a supportive work environment. The initiative is backed by the Health Service Executive, University College Cork, and Cork City and County Councils, among others.

Aoife Ní Chonchúir, coordinator of PSYCHED, expressed delight in partnering with HOFP, highlighting the significant impact of these sessions on workplace mental health during challenging times.

“We are delighted to partner with the HOFP to bring this training opportunity to the workplaces that we support through PSYCHED.  The combined expertise of Dr Nicola O’ Sullivan, Ag Eisteacht and SHEP has been very well-received and feedback has been immensely positive from participants who are adapting to new work practices and limited supports during this pandemic.”
